Pitru Paksha is a devotional-observance reading — the festival, fast, rite or temple practice this module guides, with its timing and its traditional meaning.
The festival and rite calendar runs on the panchangam — tithis, nakshatras and the solar months — codified through the Puranas and the regional almanacs. Each observance carries its story, its rule and its season.
The traditional calendar marked the day before the sun rose — the temple's panchangam set the date; the rite was kept to the rule its shastra prescribes.
The module computes the observance's timing from the real panchangam for your place, and lays out the traditional rite and its meaning.
By the panchangam — the tithi (lunar day) or nakshatra the observance is tied to, computed for your place and year.
Each carries its own — the fast's type, the offering, the breaking-time — the module states them for the observance asked.
