Select your current active nostril, time and activity to receive a traditional Svara reading.
Nadi Svara Shastra, also called Swarodaya, is the traditional Indian study of breath flow through the nostrils and its relationship with energy, activity and awareness.
Ida is traditionally described as the lunar, cooling, receptive channel; Pingala as the solar, warming, active channel; and Sushumna as the central, balanced, spiritual channel.
Breathing through the nostrils and the nasal cycle are real physiological processes. The traditional meanings assigned to Ida, Pingala and Sushumna belong to a yogic framework, not to modern anatomy.
Breathe normally. Close one nostril gently with a finger and compare airflow. Switch. The side that feels easier is the more open nostril. Do not hold your breath or force it.
