What is the difference between Bhinna and Sarvashtakavarga?

Bhinna Ashtakavarga (BAV) is the individual table for one planet. Sarvashtakavarga (SAV) is the combined table for all seven planets, totalling 337 bindus.

A Bindu is a benefic point in a sign. A Rekha is the absence of a point. BAV/SAV traditionally count bindus, while the underlying pattern can also be read with rekhas.

How are Ashtakavarga points calculated?

Each of the 8 reference points contributes a bindu to a sign if that sign is one of the fixed benefic houses counted from that reference point. The tables are classical and constant.

What is Trikona Shodhana?

Trikona Shodhana is a classical reduction process using trinal signs. It adjusts BAV totals and is used in advanced analysis. This module shows the raw BAV/SAV; reductions are a future enhancement.

What is Ekadhipatya Shodhana?

Ekadhipatya Shodhana is a classical reduction based on sign lordship. It is applied to BAV after Trikona Shodhana, not to SAV.

What is Shodhya Pinda?

Shodhya Pinda is the product of reduced bindus and sign numbers, used in longevity and strength analysis. It is not computed here because proper reduction is required first.

How does Ashtakavarga help with transits?

A planet transiting a sign with more bindus in its own BAV and in SAV is traditionally considered better supported. Low bindus are seen as more effortful, not doomed.

What does a high Sarvashtakavarga score mean?

It means that sign / house has a higher total of benefic points from all contributors. It is one traditional factor for the strength of that area, not a guarantee.

How does Ashtakavarga work with Saturn transit?

When Saturn transits a sign, compare Saturn's BAV and the SAV of that sign. More bindus can mean a more supportive Saturn period, while fewer bindus may mean more effort is required.

How does Ashtakavarga work with Jupiter transit?

Jupiter transiting a high-bindu sign can indicate stronger support for growth, learning and opportunities in the corresponding house. Low-bindu signs are still manageable but may take more effort.

Are Rahu and Ketu included in BAV/SAV?

Classical Parashari Ashtakavarga uses the seven traditional planets plus Lagna. Rahu and Ketu are not counted as contributors in this system.
